in a way that is easy-to-understand and much less intimidating!
confusing, frustrating or overwhelming?
I can help you reframe your approach to data analysis and research design
in a way that is easy-to-understand and much less intimidating!
What I can help you with in applied statistics:
- Descriptive statistics --> How many people or cases are you counting? How do you display them in a chart or graph? How do you figure out what's common or average for a group of people? How do you figure out how different the people in a group are? Descriptive statistics includes counting (frequencies), averages or commonality (means, medians and modes) and difference or divergence (standard deviation and variance)
- Inferential statistics --> How can I be sure if my sample findings are good estimates of the populations they are drawn from? How can I tell if two or more groups are different from one another? Inferential statistics include concepts such as the standard error, Z-test, T-test, ANOVA/F-test, and other procedures where we use sample data (like the information you get from a survey) to test our educated guesses (hypotheses) about what people are doing
- Measures of association --> How can I tell if two or more variables are related? If they are related, how strong is that association? Are these variables related in the population? How can I be sure? Association measures include concepts such as Chi-square and the Pearson correlation
- Predictive statistics --> How can I tell if changes in one variable predicts changes in another? How much do we expect these variables to change? What happens when my dependent variables are thoughts or behaviors rather than numbers? How does that impact the kind of statistic I need to use? Predictive statistics include advanced topics such as dummy variables, linear regression, and logistic regression
- Explaining the guidelines for selecting any of these measures over the others
- Basic guidance on using SPSS point-and-click menus to generate and interpret the above measures
- Basic guidance on using the SPSS syntax editor, where appropriate
RESEARCH METHODS
What I can help you with in research methods:
- Translating your big ideas into answerable research questions
- Explaining the differences between quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Explaining the guidelines for selecting any one research method over the others
- Explaining the proper way to assemble a research paper and the material that goes into each section (introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, conclusion)
PRICING
